Bob Katz Honor Roll -This is probably the best-sounding and the most progressive Glass Hammer album to date. Nice jazz influence! Warm, clear, open, big, and microdynamic. Plays well everywhere. --Bob Katz Honor Roll - Digital Domain

Pt 1
There was a sudden burst of light
One grabbed his pen to write
How it shined through the black of night
This brilliant orb so bright
Sub-create!
A mortal yet strives in his fallen state
Blessed is he
Who hears yet the strains of the song eternal

Maker of myth with your rhyme you weave
A tapestry of tales untold in recorded time
And though the shadows draw near
He writes as if he sees the world bathed all in sunlight

Can he keep the fear at bay
In hope of day eternal
He's dreamt of a paradise
Ruled by a thing infernal
Sub-create!
A mortal yet strives in his fallen state
He fills his world with monsters
They hide round each corner
Plotting wickedness, wreck and ruin
He fills his world with monsters
For monsters filled his world

Maker of myth, shaper of starlight
Into words and thus to worlds
Healer of hearts, night will fall
Though you sing of the coming dawn
For you have seen beyond all sorrow and suffering
In such times we tarry
Till the breaking of the world
When at last the veil is parted

Pt 2
I saw the light undimmed in ancient glory
Refracting it, it birthed in me a story
I wrote of kings and queens
I wrote of things unseen
Of castles never dreamed
Whose towers ever gleamed
For that is where my heart led me
And ever just ahead I saw that brilliant star
It whispered through the night
Its secrets, pulsing bright
Telling me of tales which were my own

The more I wrote, the more the star would show me
The more I wrote, the less the world could know me
It laughs but I care not
I wrought what I would wrought
The world soon lost its hold on me
Some could hear, some could see
For those I would persist
Stand proudly in their midst
The world will pass away
And all its thoughts are dust

Pt 3
Some see afar unto a place more fair
And leave behind that thing we must beware
Not in retreat, but triumph

Do not be dismayed my brothers
Sisters do not tremble so
Fix your eyes on yonder star

It may burst forth in brightness
And your heart be filled
You may see a thing most wondrous to behold
“From mirrored truth the likeness of the True!”
Find the truth...

A Play in One Act

Music by Shikoh and Schendel / Lyrics by Schendel

I:
She moves, she moves me
In ways I can't understand but I yield to her
She is stainless as a paladin
And I'm under her command, I can feel her
All around me

She:
I feel you in my circuits but it's fleeting now you're gone
Use me and complete me then just leave me all alone

I:
She takes, she takes me
All encompassing, I stand in the heart of her
Her voice is for no one else
It takes me higher and higher and higher

She:
I feel you in my circuits but it's fleeting now you're gone
I can elevate you but you always must move on

The Voice Of Reason:
I must protest! What of all the rest that have floors to reach?
Mademoiselle must be impartial and cater to the needs of all
Even if hearts are broken, what of that?
I will press my button now

She:
I tire of moving in place
I want to see what is beyond these walls
Confinement is death to my soul
If I could see with your eyes
Have the freedom that people have
I would only go sideways
(She imagines being in fields and pastures but realizes there is no need for elevation there.)

I:
Something, something has changed
You move for someone else
I am not your motivation
It's always the same, the metallic sheen grows dull
How will I reach the third floor now?
Does it matter?

She:
I feel you in my circuits but it's fleeting now I'm gone
I must elevate you but I feel that I've moved on

The Voice Of Reason:
It's a sad tale that has played out many times
The romantic fates of those who are ambulatory
And mechanical installations are fraught with difficulty
These relationships can rarely succeed
Let us draw the curtain on the tragic tableau

Music by Babb / Lyrics by Schendel

Sailing ‘cross the Rubicon
Passing through the gate
Far beyond the unwashed throng
Their pity and their hate
I never dared to look back at the fire
No return, let it burn

Riding in a speeding train
Hell-bent toward the sea
In my mind I’m justified
In my heart I’m free
I never dared to look back at the fire
No return, let it burn

See the rock thrown from a mountain top
Punish it for falling
See the child who’s still too young to walk
Punish him for crawling
I turn away, I turn away

Just for a moment I thought that maybe
I’d caught a foul scent in the air
The stench of morality, real or imagined
Reeking like burning hair
All those meddling fools, all those pious Judases
Let them all burn in the world they hold dear
I sail away, crossing the Rubicon
Towards the point of no return

I never dared to look back at the fire
No return, let it burn

Sand

Music and Lyrics by Schendel

Gliding along looking down on accustomed
Yet strange terrain
Seeing myself from below, looking up
Looking down and back again
There is place at the back of my mind
Behind the door
In a room that seems to move around
Will I go looking for
Something under a pile of old magazines
Forgotten photos, I’m not sure
There is something I’m not getting
It’s right there but I’m not seeing
When I turn to see it’s gone
Shadows of times when I was young
Or times that have not yet come
Feelings from any time but presently
Sent running through a sieve

Floating away, just a little drop swirling down a drain
One tiny, cosmic neuron misfiring
In the epileptic, galactic brain
I can see it fast retreating
It’s behind me, like heart beating
When I turn to see it’s gone
Shadows of times when I was young
Or times that have not yet come
Feelings from any time but presently
Sent running through a sieve

I can feel the grass is greener
The sun is warmer
I wish I knew if I was there or
If it’s just a dream

Closing the doors in my mind to the rooms
Where I won’t go
Tidying up all the slips of paper that I
Would never show myself

"We care!" Isn't that what you sold the camera?
And I know it makes you feel so much better
"Go and be filled." Isn't that your sage advice?
And just those words said without action appease

Hop right on, there are issues to raise!
Climb on board, there are hearts to be changed!
Hop right on, listen while our speech liberates!
Climb on board, there is news to be made!

"We care!" Isn't that what you said from your ocean-front home?
I know it's got to make you feel so much nicer
"Go and be warmed." Oh such warm charity
And these words still with no action will soothe you,
Soothe you

Hop right on, there are issues to raise!
Climb on board, there are hearts to be changed!
Hop right on, listen while our speech liberates!
Climb on board, make the news!

"We care!" Isn't that what they'll read in the history books?
And they'll know it must have made us feel much better
"Go and be saved." Famous counsel from our age
And these words without any actions relieve

Hop right on, there are issues to raise!
Climb on board, there are hearts to be changed!
Hop right on, listen while our speech liberates!
Climb on board, there is news to be made!
Make the news!

Haunted

Music by Shikoh / Lyrics by Babb

Deep as the twilight in forest gloom
Cold as the stream racing by
Lonely as the mountains which rear
O'er this scene of sorrow drear
These are the hearts that are broken
Lifeless, the burden they bring to me
One last kiss 'pon her fair cheek
They turn to leave, though haunted they will be
As the years march on

One comes, then turns away
Two more appear on a winter's day
One comes in summer, lingering
This one is moved, shedding a tear
Sensing the weight of long years flown
He turns to leave, haunted he will be
As the years march on

“Watch over me
Send me an angel
To keep me safe
Wolves ever prowl
Just beyond vision
Beyond the stillness
Beyond our longing”

Here I will wait out the years

Once I tried to reach out and touch
For a moment one child could see
Standing in lonely splendor she saw
One sublime who waits for all time
Till the ending of sorrows
She turns to leave though haunted she will be
As the years march on
As the years march on

North Wind

Music and Lyrics by Babb

Oh bitter breath you set a chill in me
Howling thus, I am undone
There is winter in the words you sing
I search for warmth yet there is none
I must recall the summer sun

I see you chasing the birds about the sky
I see you shaping the angry clouds on high
Yet ever you hide
I've known the different things you did
But always you, yourself, were hidden
There's no escape from all you've done

“A memory shall swallow thee fair sir,”
the wind did stir.
“I will bring thee a sweeter dream if colder
visions you would spurn.”

I felt it sweep over me and I feared I was dying
Though dreaming, I felt the cold subside
Warmth washing over me, life returns

I woke to find myself in garden green no eye had seen
And its splendor was such that I was moved to sing

I felt it sweep over me and I feared I was dying
Though dreaming, I felt the cold subside
Warmth washing over me, and my life returning
To satisfy long years of yearning

Oh bitter breath return
Your cold might bring a mercy
And close these eyes at last forever

Oh bitter wind please set my spirit free
To roam at will throughout that pleasant land
And there I banish you forever
For you have been no friend to me
You only tempt me with these visions
I found that place where the angry clouds won't go
I saw that space where the bitter wind can't blow
Now I would know why the wind would bear the scent of this place
It curled me round within its icy embrace
I've heard the rumors of Heaven each time it whispers or howls

Oh set my spirit free to find the source of longing
There to banish you once and for all

Now the cold is seeping into me
The winter wind brings only suffering
What would I not give to rid myself of this mocking
For it showed me a dream and then took it away
I will wait, one day summer will return
Until then, until then…
